Boscobel as a trout fishing destination is uniquely positioned in the northernmost part of Grant County, Wisconsin, with neighboring counties of Crawford and Richland just across the Wisconsin River. The three counties are home to nearly 90 DNR-designated Class 1 trout streams, among the over 170 trout streams including Class 2 and Class 3 streams. You need a Wisconsin Trout Fishing License and Trout seasons and regulations vary, so please be sure to check the DNR Wisconsin Trout Fishing pages before heading to the stream.
Don’t take our word for it that the Driftless Region is one of the best places in the world for trout fishing. Check out this article in Field and Stream by Kirk Deeter (Oct. 1, 2013). Deeter wrote:
“The Driftless includes an elaborate network of clear, cold limestone creeks that carve through rural farmland. It’s one of the most picturesque fishing locales in the Lower 48…The Driftless is a monument to what can happen with good conservation interest and action. Wisconsin’s stream access rules afford plenty of opportunities. And the angler pressure is reasonably light.”
An excellent resource about trout fishing here is the Southwestern Wisconsin Trout Fishing Trail website.
